The EUR2 million equipment, which recently came from Japan, includes a robot-controlled vehicle, various sensor systems and a device for the in-depth scanning of suspected mine-infested sites.
The testing was conducted in the presence of Japanese scientists, HCR and local government officials.
The project, involving about 50 Japanese scientists, is still in an early stage of development. After the technology is improved, the equipment will become the joint intellectual property of the Japanese Agency for Science and the HCR, and the HCR will be able to sell it to commercial mine removal companies.
