Depoliticised, more professional and efficient state administration is one of the conditions Croatia has to meet before joining the European Union, Sanader told the round table discussion organised by the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences (HAZU).
Some of the reforms in this sector should be carried out by this summer by which time Croatia should adopt relevant legislation regulating state administration in line with European standards, the premier said adding that basic elements of the reform would be electronic administration, the simplification of administrative procedures and the removal of bureaucratic barriers.
Last month, the HAZU held a round table discussion on judicial reform, and next month it plans to organise a round table on the fight against corruption, the three main obstacles standing in the way of Croatia's speedier integration with the EU.
