Commenting on war crimes charges pressed on Tuesday by Croatia's association of former inmates of Serb concentration camps, Stanimirovic told the Novi Sad-based daily Gradjanski List of Wednesday the indictments were issued for the purpose of preventing Serbs from returning to Croatia.
He said the Croatian right wing was behind the criminal charges because "it is attempting to draw attention to itself again and is attempting to foment tensions in Serbia-Croatia relations, which are inevitably improving".
Stanimirovic said good relations between the two states could help in settling the return of Serb property and that someone evidently took exception to that.
The association of former Serb concentration camp inmates pressed charges with the County Prosecutor's Office in Vukovar for war crimes committed against captives during the 1991 Serbian aggression on the eastern town.
