The latest report covering 100 banks was compiled by the web portal in cooperation with the A.T Kearney consulting company and the Euromonitor International market research company.
One of the chief reasons for a decline in banks' profit was the increase of reserves for non-performing loans, the report reads.
The Nova Ljubljanska Banka (NLB), leads "SEE TOP 100 Banks ranking", with its assets worth EUR 15.5 billion at the end of 2009, rising by 7.13 percent from 2008.
The second best bank was the largest Romanian bank -- Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR) -- with the EUR 15.3 billion of assets.
Croatia's Zagrebacka Banka (ZABA) finished as third with its assets of EUR 12.7 billion.
Apart from ZABA, another eight banks operating in Croatia were listed among top 100 performers when it comes to their assets.
Of them, Privredna Banka Zagreb ranked fifth, Erste & Steiermaerkische Bank was at the sixth place, and Raiffeisenbank Austria finished as eighth, while Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank finished as ninth. Societe Generale - Splitska Banka was on the 20th place.
Hrvatska Postanska Banka was 39th-ranked, OTP Bank Hrvatska 43rd and Volksbank operating in Croatia ranked 58th.
