ZAGREB, Jan 25 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament started its 18thsession on Wednesday. The first parliamentary session in 2006 willlast until mid February.
ZAGREB, Jan 25 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament started its 18th session on Wednesday. The first parliamentary session in 2006 will last until mid February.

At the beginning of the session, deputies established the agenda which includes a total of 68 laws. Eight items were added today, including the law on the election of members of representative bodies of local and regional self-government units. The majority of MPs decided to discuss the ratification of the European convention on citizenship during regular and not under urgent procedure.

Also included in the agenda was the ratification of the agreement with Bosnia-Herzegovina on cooperation in the field of rights of victims of the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) and their families.

The agenda also includes the 2006 plan for the adjustment of Croatia's legislation with that of the EU, the communication strategy for informing the Croatian public of the European Union and preparations for EU membership, the annual report on the readiness of the country's defence system and the overall situation in the armed forces, as well as the judiciary system strategy.

Today's session started with Question Time during which 38 MPs will ask government members questions.
