ZAGREB, Jan 18 (Hina) - The President of the European Union Committee of the Regions (CoR), Peter Straub will officially visit Croatia on Friday and meet top Croatian officials, the Croatian Parliament's Public Relations Office said in a statement Wednesday.

Straub will be received by his host, Croatian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and other officials.

The European Commission said earlier this week that the talks between Straub and Croatian officials would focus on the priorities of the CoR for this year, with an emphasis on the importance of decentralisation and the strengthening of the role of local and regional authorities in the European growth strategy.
