"Barack Obama's speech has been excellently received, and his messages are acceptable to the majority of the population," the Croatian president said in response to reporters' questions to comment on the annual opening of the General Assembly"s high-level meeting earlier in the day.
Obama spoke about states' responsibility towards the international community and the responsibility of governments towards their respective peoples. The US president also spoke about the prevention of nuclear proliferation, condemned terrorism, and pointed to poverty and problems in the development of some parts of the world, the Croatian head of state said.
During his stay in New York on Wednesday, Josipovic held talks with Chilean President Sebastian Pinera about Croatian expatriates in that Latin American country as well as about bilateral economic cooperation.
Later on Thursday, Josipovic is to meet with businessman and philanthropist George Soros.
He will attend a dinner hosted by Obama for heads of state or government during their participation in the General Assembly session.
