The sixth annual gathering, organised by the Clinton Global Initiative, brought together 67 current and former heads of state or government, including Croatia's incumbent President Ivo Josipovic as well as 600 business people and more than 500 representatives of nongovernmental organisations and philanthropic associations from 90 countries.
President Josipovic said that the Clinton Global initiative was important as it was trying to help "eliminate great evils affecting humanity" such as problems in health, grave crises triggered off by natural disasters, illegal narcotics and AIDS.
Clinton particularly appealed for assistance to the quake-stricken Haiti.
