Speaking at a session of the HSP Main Committee, he said the party's goal was to win 20 seats in the Sabor so that it could become an unavoidable partner in post-election coalitions.
"After the election in the SDP (Social Democrats) and (SDP leader Zoran) Milanovic's first political statements, it's clear that the left cannot be the HSP's partner on the national level. The HDZ will have to be our partner in post-election coalitions, but I'm stressing that this does not change anything in the campaign strategy. We will fight for every centre-right vote."
The HSP today presented guidelines for foreign affairs, health and the judiciary.
Strategic foreign policy goals include the closure of outstanding issues with neighbours and an active regional policy, notably with regard to the position of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, EU and NATO accession, and partner relations with the US as well as with other permanent UN Security Council countries, such as Russia and China, and with G8 countries Canada and Japan.
In the health sector, the HSP advocates separating health from health insurance, abolishing the Health Insurance Bureau and establishing a number of national insurance bureaus.
In the judiciary, the party envisages closing pending cases by making judges work in shifts, the computerisation of the system, and abolishing court investigations.
The HSP also promises to punish unlawful activities in privatisation, setting up an agency for seizing alienated property, and an audit of the ownership transformation and privatisation of banks.
The party will present its full election platform at a convention in mid-September, when it will formally start the election campaign.
