ZAGREB, June 25 (Hina) - Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his
Croatian counterpart Stjepan Mesic a message on the occasion of Croatia's
Statehood Day, saying that "the agreements reached on a number of vital areas
of cooperation provide very good preconditions for raising the Russian-Croatian
dialogue to a new level," President Mesic's office said in a statement early
on Monday morning. Putin said that the implementation of President
Mesic's proposal to hold a Southeast European energy summit in Zagreb on Sunday
"confirmed Croatia's authority on the international scene" and expressed
confidence that the results of the summit would contribute to dealing with
tasks in the energy sector in Southeast Europe and Europe in general, the
statement said.
Putin said that he and Mesic had "substantial" talks in Zagreb on
Sunday evening, which proved that the prospects for the development of overall
relations were good.
