BELGRADE, June 6 (Hina) - The chief prosecutor of the Hague war crimes tribunal, Carla del Ponte, said in Belgrade on Wednesday that her report to the UN Security Council on Serbia's cooperation with the tribunal would be positive, but noted that she expected "other positive results" by June 18 when she was due to present her report.

"I want results," Del Ponte told reporters in Serbian, and when asked when she expected results, she replied, also in Serbian, "Now!"

The chief prosecutor highlighted the commitment of the new Serbian government to cooperation with the tribunal, the recent formation of the National Security Council, which is chaired by President Boris Tadic, and the arrest and transfer to The Hague of Bosnian Serb General Zdravko Tolimir.

"We have the first concrete signs of progress in cooperation in the formation of the National Security Council and the arrest of General Tolimir. These are positive steps forward in our cooperation, but it is necessary to arrest other fugitives as well, especially (Bosnian Serb wartime military commander Ratko) Mladic, whose arrest we expect very, very soon," Del Ponte said.

Del Ponte said that during her talks with Serbian officials she had noticed their "serious commitment to cooperation", and that she had congratulated Security Intelligence Agency (BIA) director Rade Bulatovic on arresting Tolimir.

Neither Del Ponte nor Tadic would comment on allegations that Tolimir was not arrested in the Republika Srpska, the Serb entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but in Serbia.

Tadic said that "everyone who had to know about the arrest operation knew about it," dismissing claims by some media that the coordinators of the action plan for cooperation with the Hague tribunal and the state leadership did not know about the operation.

Tadic reiterated that the authorities in Belgrade were strongly committed to fully cooperating with the tribunal and that it was necessary to arrest all the fugitives indicted by the tribunal.

"We are committed to continuing our cooperation for the sake of our own future and our readiness to make peace with the neighbouring nations, and not for the sake of the European Union, the Hague tribunal and international organisations," Tadic told reporters after meeting Del Ponte.
