BEDNJA, May 12 (Hina) - Commenting on the situation in Serbia and
the formation of a new Serbian government without the Radical Party, Croatian
President Stjepan Mesic has said that this was expected and that democratic
forces must unite to prevent Serbia from making a backward step. The
retrograde platform of the Radical Party can only make life worse for people
in Serbia, as well as for Serbia's neighbors, Mesic told reporters during a
visit to Varazdin County on Saturday.
"I hope that Serbia's new government will find the right way and
courage to take Serbia to the path to Europe," Mesic said.
Commenting on reports that Serbian Parliament Speaker Tomislav Nikolic
of the Radical Party would be replaced, Mesic said that he would not "shed
tears over that".
