"Serbia needs stability and without it there can be no stable government and I am convinced that this government leads us to the path that guarantees further development," Kostunica told reporters.
He said that Serbia was facing temptation when it came to Kosovo's future status, adding that with the help of the new government, the UN Charter would be respected.
He underlined the importance of the Government's role in negotiations on the country's Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU, expressing conviction this process would continue.
The first session of the newly-elected government is scheduled for Wednesday.
