Josipovic and Westerwelle discussed topical issues, primarily Croatia's European Union membership bid.
The two officials described Croatian-German relations as excellent, with Westerwelle expressing hope that the enhancement of those relations would continue with full intensity.
Josipovic informed the German official of the progress Croatia was making in critical negotiating areas in its EU membership talks - the reform of the judiciary and the struggle against corruption and organised crime.
The German minister said that his country was closely watching this process and was willing to offer assistance to Zagreb, whenever it was necessary, so that Croatia's admission to the European bloc could take place within the set time frame.
He praised Josipovic's efforts in developing regional cooperation.
According to the press release, Germany highly appreciates cooperation established to counter organised crime and corruption in the region.
