In response to questions by reporters who were covering her visit to an agricultural fair in Bjelovar on Sunday, about allegations that old meat was imported into Croatia and repacked with new declarations, PM Kosor said that she absolutely trusted the Agriculture Minister who refuted such allegations.
Agriculture Minister Petar Cobankovic and Health Minister Darko Milinovic dismissed media reports about unhealthy meat as untrue at the government's meeting this past week.
"I think that this story should be closed," Kosor said.
Kosor declined to comment on Social Democratic Party President Zoran Milanovic's statement that she should perform her role of Prime Minister and not of a trade union leader. Milanovic gave this statement after her address to a convention of the HDZ Youth organisation in Zagreb on Saturday when she said that she was the biggest trade unionist when it came to defending the living standards.
"I have no intention of commenting on anybody, including Milanovic," the premier said.
She reiterated that she had decided not to cut salaries and pensions or children's allowances and other entitlements as this would consequently lead to reduced consumption.
"Many have expected the government to take a wrong step. They are disappointed to see that this has not happened," she said.
