The mayor, who bemoans the government's plan, urges Elizabeth II, who visited the Djakovo stud-farm in 1972, and the EC representative to use their influence to help efforts aimed at the survival of the Djakovo Lipizzaner farm.
Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and her cabinet's ministers have stated on several occasions that the stud-farm will remain in Djakovo and that merger has been designed to bring cost-cutting in management.
So far, the town of Djakovo has organised two protest rallies. In the meantime the local authorities have decided to suspend protest activities by 20 August when the government is expected to give its position on their demand that the local stud-farm retain its current status.
