During his stay in Washington, the Croatian minister also met the World Bank's Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, Shigeo Katsu.
"We have had very constructive and good talks with Herman Wijffels and Shigeo Katsu and we have practically noted that Croatia has met all requirements for being granted the Second Programmatic Adjustment Loan, PAL2," said Suker who arrived in Washington to attend the ongoing spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington.
The PAL 2 of 150 million euros is for reform projects in Croatia which will be financed from the budget.
"Croatia is negotiating with the World Bank a loan for constructing a water supply network in the inland, worth between 100 and 120 million dollars. We have agreed on a loan for the complete reform of tax administration from introduction of tax numbers to the establishment of institutions for training personnel," Suker added.
In late May, the World Bank's Board of Governors is expected to approve a new strategy for cooperation in Croatia. The Croatian Government is due to adopt the document next week.
The Bank Vice President Katsu said Croatia had met 90 percent of conditions set for the approval of PAL 2 loan and the World Bank's Board of Governors is to okay the granting of the loan at its session on 31 May this year.
The loan agreement is to be signed in early June and the drawing of the first installment of 100 million euros is scheduled for July this year, after the Croatian Parliament ratifies the loan agreement, according to a press release issued by the Finance Ministry.
Katsu commended Croatia for excellent headway it had made in privatisation of ailing companies such as the Sisak Ironworks and the Sibenik TLM smeltering company and in starting the privatisation of four independent companies in the Croatian Railways, an he laos noted progress in the health care and social welfare sectors and in the modernisation of public administration and judicial system.
During their stay in Washington, Minister Suker and the Croatian National Bank Governor, Zeljko Rohatinski will, also meet IMF leaders.
