In her lecture entitled "Challenges facing Croatia and Southeast Europe on the path to European Union membership," Grabar-Kitarovic spoke of the progress of Croatia's accession negotiations with the EU.
Among the biggest challenges facing Croatia on the road to the EU, she cited raising of the competitiveness of the national economy, building of the administrative capacity, judicial reform, and combating corruption.
EU membership is not an end in itself, but it must result in a better standard of living and a better life for Croatian citizens, the minister said.
Later on, Grabar-Kitarovic opened the Honorary Consulate in the premises of the law firm of Lino Verbeke, who has served as Croatian Honorary Consul since 1999.
