Sanader said the Prosecutor's Office was only one party in the proceedings, with the defence being the second, and the panel of judges that would hand down a verdict the third.
He was speaking at the opening of Fourth Croatian Carriers Day.
Sanader said the Croatian public could be sure that the Hague tribunal would receive the entire material prepared by the Croatian government. He added the material would provide the full and objective truth about what happened in the 1990s Homeland War and 1995's Operation Storm, which he said Croatia was proud of as it liberated central Croatia from rebel Serbs.
The premier said he expected and appealed to the defence teams of generals Ante Gotovina, Mladen Markac and Ivan Cermak not to quarrel, but to coordinate their efforts because proceedings against the accused had been joined into one trial, so the attorneys "are condemned to a joint defence".
After a member of the press said it was unlikely to expect the attorneys to cooperate soon, Sanader said he disagreed and that the conflict was perhaps due to initial nervousness. He said he was optimistic and that he was sure the three generals too expected their defence teams to cooperate.
Sanader also commented on reports that the Justice Ministry had received a decision by an Australian court under which Dragan Vasiljkovic, aka Captain Dragan, the commander of Serb paramilitary troops during the war in Croatia, could be extradited to Croatia. He said the government was waiting for the decision to become final and for Vasiljkovic to be extradited so that he could "face justice because he certainly has a lot to account for".
