ZAGREB, March 23 (Hina) - The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) will not take any additional measures against freelance Croatian journalist Domagoj Margetic over his belated payment of the entire fine which he had to pay after he was found guilty of contempt of court.

On 20 March the ICTY decided not to punish Margetic, taking into account the fact that on 15 March 2007 Margetic paid the full fine. The deadline was 9 March, by which time he paid 7,852 euros of the 10,000-euro fine.

The rules of the UN war crimes tribunal provide for the payment of penalties in case of belated payments of fines.

On 7 February, Margetic was convicted for revealing the names of protected witnesses on his website. The tribunal gave him a sentence of three months in jail plus the fine. The trial chamber included the 34 days Margetic had spent in custody in Croatia in his prison sentence and ordered him to serve the remainder of the sentence in The Hague as soon as the verdict was handed down.
