BELGRADE, March 13 (Hina) - A special prosecutor for organised
crime in Serbia Slobodan Radovanovic on Tuesday pressed charges against late
Serbian President and ICTY indictee Slobodan Milosevic and his close associates
Mihalj Kertes, Nikola Sainovic and Jovan Zebic for syphoning off funds out of
the country. Spokesman for the prosecution Tomo Zoric told reporters
on Tuesday that the indictment issued for embezzling millions, that ended up
on accounts in to Cyprus.
Given that Milosevic had passed away, the trial will be held only
against Kertes, who was the customs administration chief during the Milosevic
regime and Zebic who was a deputy prime minister of one of the Milosevic
governments. There will be a separate trial against Sainovic given that he is
also indicted for war crimes by the UN war crimes tribunal in the Hague.
