"it is relevant that the European Commission has assessed that Croatia is ready for the opening of the policy chapter no. 23 (Judiciary and Fundamental Rights). The main reason why this has not been done are remarks by some EU member-states that Croatia is not fully cooperating with the Hague-based (ICTY) tribunal," Simonovic said after the opening of an international conference on anti-discrimination legislation and practice in Zagreb on Monday.
Simonovic was commenting on reports by some media that Croatia would very soon receive the latest warning from the EU that it must offer concrete results in the fight against corruption and organised crime and immediately resolve the issue of the access by the UN war crimes tribunal to documents in Croatia,
In relation to documents, the minister said Croatia would send its position on the matter this week to ICTY Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz.
