In connection with a report which the State Auditor's Office forwarded to the parliament on the sources and amounts of funds spent during the campaigning for the 2009 local elections, GONG wondered in a statement it issued on Tuesday whether those who had violated the law would face fines or other sanctions.
GONG recalls that fines range between HRK 50,000 and HRK 500,000.
The association said that although the State Auditor's office gave no names of those who violated the legislation, the report mentioned the fact that 234 candidates who ran in those polls had not produced a fina report on their costs and sources of funds. Of those 234 candidates were now office-holders.
