HSLS women's initiative set up in Split

Autor: mses
SPLIT, June 5 (Hina) - The Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) women's initiative was established in Split on Saturday, with Diana Peckaj Vukovic from Zagreb being unanimously elected as the initiative's president.

Peckaj Vukovic, an art historian and writer, said that women Liberals would be a forum of new ideas in Croatia.

The initiative's founding session brought together 259 deputies from all parts of Croatia as well as HSLS President Darinko Kosor and the party governing committee's chairwoman, Djurdja Adlesic.

Adlesic said that women in Croatia accounted for more than 50 percent of the population but only for 10 percent of office-holders.

She called on Kosor to involve more women in his team.

"This is the first pre-election meeting of the HSLS ahead of the coming parliamentary elections, no matter whether they will be in May or November 2011," Darinko Kosor said.
