HND: Miljus attackers remain unidentified 2 yrs after assault

Autor: mses
ZAGREB, June 1 (Hina) - The Croatian Journalists Association (HND) on Tuesday urged the police to find the assailants who had beaten journalist Dusan Miljus two years ago and to bring them to justice.

HND president Zdenko Duka and Miljus held a news conference in Zagreb on the occasion of the second anniversary of the assault. Miljus, a reporter for Jutarnji List daily, was beaten up by two unidentified assailants in front of his apartment building in Zagreb on 3 June 2008. Miljus, who has been reporting about the underworld and organised crime in Croatia for years, was injured in the attack, but his life was not in danger.

The HND on Tuesday sent an open letter to Interior Minister Tomislav Karamarko stating that it was depressing for Miljus, who is still under police protection, as well as for other crime-investigating reporters that the attackers and those who ordered the attack on Miljus have not yet been found.

Zdenko Duka recalled that although Minister Karamarko had said on several occasions that the investigation was nearing its completion, the perpetrators had not yet been identified.

According to Duka, apart from Miljus, another three reporters and one newspaper editorial board are under police protection.
