Publication on trafficking for labour exploitation in Croatia presented

Autor: mses
ZAGREB, May 30 (Hina) - The Croatian government's office for human rights in cooperation with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) last Wednesday launched a publication on human trafficking in Croatia with an emphasis on labour abuse of those victims.

Over the last three years, Croatia registered 30 victims of trafficking in human beings and nine of them were also victims of labour exploitation.

A publication author, Selma Golubovic-Skec, said cases of labour exploitation had been detected in agriculture, asking alms and in car-body shops.

The head of the office for human rights, Luka Madjeric, said that a rise in labour exploitation of men was a global trend while women were more often sexually exploited.

The publication was compiled within a project for strengthening the system for the combat against trafficking in human beings in Croatia.

The project is being conducted by the said office and ICMPD with the financial assistance of the Netherlands.
