ZAGREB, May 3 (Hina) - The group of investigative journalists within
Croatian Journalists' Association (HND) on Monday issued a statement
on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day to recall that although
exactly 700 days have passed since "a brutal attack and an
assassination attempt" on the life of Dusan Miljus, a reporter of the
Zagreb-based Jutarnji List, the police have not yet managed to solve
that case.
Police protection has been ensured for another three reporters and an editorial board, apart from Miljus, due to threats they have received, the group said in the statement.
The statement warns about big capital, media owners and politicians acting in collusion to restrict media freedom.
It also warns about "a chaotic situation" in the Croatian national broadcaster (HTV).
