Thus, the coverage of the export by the import fell below 50 percent, amounting exactly 49.1 percent.

and other countries in the first half of 2001 was unfavourable for
the former. While Croatia's export rose only by 2.6 percent, the
import climbed by 23.2 percent. Thus, the coverage of the export by
the import fell below 50 percent, amounting exactly 49.1

According to provisional figures of the national Bureau of
Statistics, Croatia's export rose by 2.6 percent to 2.22 billion
dollars in the first six months of 2001 as against the same period in
2000.
The goods imported in Croatia between January and June 2001 were
worth $4.52 billion, with an increase of 23.2 percent compared to
the first half of 2000.
Owing to such trends, a deficit in the trade climbed by 52.3 percent
to almost $2.3 billion in the first half of 2001 as against the same
period last year.
