Prices dipped below unchanged from the outset, weighed down by scattered speculative selling. The market drifted in negative territory for the rest of the session, as currency-linked selling against London cocoa pushed New York to the day's lows. Traders said March's failure the previous day to fill a recent chart gap at $1,375-1,378 sent a bearish signal, contributing to today's weakness. But scale-down industry buying once again provided support at the lows. March cocoa finished down $10 per tonne, to $1,364, having traded from $1,363 to $1,374. May eased $11 to $1,386, while the outer months fell $9 to $14. Overall volume was sparse, at an estimated 4,196 lots on the day.
