European raw cotton markets unmoved by New York LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, Dec 13 (Reuter) - Trade on the European cotton markets was dull after the New York futures exchange failed to react as expected to the latest US crop data, industry sources said. As the availability of Central Asian cottons is still restricted, buying focussed on alternatives, with West African, Syrian and Iranian origins reaping the most benefit. But there were few reports of new business, sources said. Delays in shipment of Greek cottons due to industrial protests by farmers contributed to the re-direction of buying interest. American and Australian prices reversed Thursday's losses to be quoted up 0.25 cents a lb. Underlying market sentiment was said to be improved on evidence of increasing demand for yarn, particularly in France. 161040 MET dec 96
