European cotton markets await U.S. crop reaction LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, Dec 12 (Reuter) - Most prices were unchanged in quiet trade as Europe's raw cotton markets waited to see how the New York futures contract would react to the latest U.S. crop supply data, industry sources said. With the official forecast predicting the third biggest crop in U.S. history set to be largely offset by greater export commitments, analysts were expecting futures prices to come under pressure. Meanwhile, trade sources said European demand continues to focus on better quality Central Asian cottons for nearby delivery while suppliers stand back from the market. Other cottons are being made available in only limited amounts. Upland cotton prices maintained their recent firmness but U.S. Memphis and Australian origins eased 0.25 cents per lb and were quoted at 84.75 and 85.75 cents per lb, both for December/January shipment. 131109 MET dec 96
