In merino fleece, the 19 micron indicator was 2.5 percent cheaper, leading a near-across-the-board decline. Merino fleece of 20/22/24m were up to 1.0 percent cheaper, while 21m was 1.0 percent dearer. In merino skirtings, 19m was 1.0 percent cheaper, with 20/21/22 microns up to 2.0 percent cheaper, WI said. In crossbreds, 27m was 0.5 percent dearer but 28/29m were 0.5 percent cheaper and 30/31m 1.0 percent cheaper. In cardings, locks were firm, with crutchings generally unchanged, WI said. Japanese interests provided principal competition with good support from most sectors of the trade, WI said. Of the 9,044 bales offered in Sydney, 13.7 percent were passed in. The most obvious change was seen from an improved call for deliveries from Continental customers now back at work, they added.
