The enquiry was mostly to fill shipment requirements for nearby through to about the first quarter of next year, traders said. Several growths attracted attention, mostly prominent West African and Spanish types for which sellers' asking rates were considered relatively interesting. These two origins were generally preferred to central Asian descriptions, though the latter encountered some support from traditional buyers. Some demand was also mentioned from spinners of coarser count yarns for Pakistan cottons but recent adverse weather in that country prompted caution among sellers and the number of offers in circulation diminished. 221117 MET oct 97
