Bradford wool market affected by currency moves
LONDON, Oct 20 (Reuters) - Prices eased on Monday's wool
market by as much as six pence due to currency movements cause
by uncertainty over the UK/EMU, traders said.
From a strictly wool market point of view, little fresh
incentives are to be found, they added.
Some firms take the view that with wool sales tomorrow it is
worth waiting another day, with slowness in reacting to the
currency factor also related to limited buying interest in the
trade.
There is business occurring from week to week, but generally
it is in small weights for relatively early covering.
More than one firm expressed unhappiness about the way
orderbooks are running down without corresponding replacement
business.
One hopeful feature was the good call for deliveries, which
makes a revival in new business possible.
While seasonally heavy offerings and limited Chinese
interest in the Australian market are seen as likely to put
prices there under pressure at forthcoming sales, there is
satisfaction at the steadiness of the market so far this season.
