Merino fleece was mostly dearer, with 19 microns four percent up, 20m 2.5 percent up, 21m three percent up, 22m 1.5 percent up, 23m one percent up, 24m slightly cheaper and 25m slightly dearer. Merino skirtings of 19/20/21m were three percent dearer. In crossbreds, on a limited offering, 26m was one percent cheaper, 27/28/29m up to 0.5 percent dearer and 30/31m slightly cheaper. In cardings, locks and crutchings were one percent dearer. WI said Italy was the principle buyer with good support from Japan, Western Europe and most sectors of the trade. Of the 8,234 bales offered, 0.6 percent were passed in. Currency fluctuations continued to cause uncertainty but traders tended not to let every sterling movement affect prices, prefering to await wool market developments.
