ZAGREB, Dec 22 (Hina) - Deliveries of relief aid to Croatia by
humanitarian organizations have almost doubled compared to the
previous year, and yet the assistance is not sufficient, said the
head of the Humanitarian Aid Division of the Croatian Government
Office for Refugees, Sonja Klingor, at a press conference on
Wednesday.
She said the Office had earmarked about 1 million DM to cover the
transportation costs of foreign donations. In order to cut those
expenses, the Office decided that food would be bought in Croatia,
which would help the Croatian economy, Ms Klingor said.
The coordinator of the Division for Cooperation with International
Aid Organizations, Maja Kurent, stressed that the situation
concerning the accommodation of refugees and the displaced in
Croatia was critical. She noted that the preparation of a catalogue
of facilities that could be adapted for the accommodation of
refugees was under way and that it would be delivered to
prospective donators.
