ZAGREB, Nov 29 (Hina) - Soros Humanitarian Foundation donated almost 4,5
millions of US $ for humanitarian aid to refugees, displaced persons and
civilian victims of the war in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, said in
Zagreb Karmen Basic, executive director of the Foundation. Hospitals and
centres for refugees in Croatia received about 1,1 million of US $.
Soros Foundation finds that Croatian government takes care on 248
thousands of refugees and more than 240 thousands of displaced persons.
In the same time more than 2,3 millions of people in Bosnia need
humanitarian aid.
Soros Foundation is also drawing attention to difficult position of
Croats in central Bosnian enclaves. Foundation's office for Bosnia in
Ploce delivered more than 32 percent of aid into this area. Almost one
third of humanitarian aid, 600 thousand dollars, is assigned to refugees
in Herzegovina, while rest of money was spent for aid to people of
Sarajevo and eastern Bosnia.
