ROME, Dec 1 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign and Deputy Prime Minister Mate
Granic addressed a ministerial meeting of the Conference on Security and
Co-operation in Europe (CSCE) on Wednesday.
On behalf of the Croatian Government, Minister Granic "greeted the
establishment of the CSCE mission in UNPA's in Croatia, which could help
a dialogue between the communities and the peaceful reintegration of
UNPA's into the political, economic and legal system of the Republic of
Croatia."
Minister Granic said that Croatia is still facing the Serb aggression
against its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He reminded on Croatia's permanent efforts towards peace and President
Tudjman's Peace Initiative, which offers concrete peaceful solutions for
UNPA's in Croatia, as well as for ending the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Minister Granic said that Croatia supports the full respect of the
principles of the international war and humanitarian law and it expects
that activities of the International War Tribunal will be initiated in
time.
The CSCE should initiate military security and contribute to the long-
term stability in south-eastern Europe by this. Therefore, Croatia calls
on "immediate beginning of a preparation of the negotiations on the
Agreement on Regional Security, including the control of armaments,
disarmament and establishment of measures for strengthening the
confidence and security," said Minister Granic. "The mutual recognition
of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries in that region
indisputably remains the important precondition for the outcome of the
process," the Minister said.
Minister Granic supported the European Community's initiative for
convening a conference on the Agreement on European Stability, which is
especially important for the countries of central and eastern Europe.
The Minister expressed pleasure that within the CSCE peace mission the
Croatian engineer military unit will be given an opportunity to
participate in monitoring the implementation of the peace plan in
Nagorny Karabah.
