ZAGREB, Nov 23 (Hina) - Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human
rights issued a public press release today on the occasion of
"forceful moving into flats, such as in the case of the Godinovic
family from Split."
The release specifies that "on Nov 11 1993 a group of uniformed
and armed persons broke into the flat of the Godinovic at 15
Simiceva keeping the family (mother, three daughters and a
grandson) their prisoners, so that the family has been exposed to
verbal and physical abuse."
"That situation is maintained in spite of all efforts by the HHO
and other non-governmental organizations and in spite of the
direct talks with the Croatian Govt. cabinet, Ministry of the
Interior and the Defense Minister," the statement says.
HHO also stated that "only in Split 200 families have been
evicted from their flats in the recent month, and in the recent
year the number of such cases is 1,500."
"The citizens of the Republic of Croatia are still getting
orders for ejection from homes, which are not based on a court
decision," says a press release issued by the HHO signed by its
president Ivan Zvoniomir Cicak.
