FROM SESSION OF PRESIDENTIAL DEFENSE AND NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL

ZAGREB, Nov 17 (Hina) - The 30th session of the Presidential Defense and national Security Council was held under the chairmanship of the Croatian President Dr.Franjo Tudjman, according to a statement issued by the President's Office. The topics discussed involve the situation in the country and abroad in connection with President Tudjman's peace initiative. The initiative clearly showed Croatia's permanent commitment to a peaceful resolution of the crisis in Croatia and B-H. Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister Granic informed on the results of his visit to the UN HQ in New York. Satisfaction was expressed in connection with the approval of the important international factors. Other initiatives was also discussed, such as the German-French one, while Croatia's international initiative that has recently lead to important progress in bringing Croatia's views closer to the international factors. Also discussed were the attempts of provoking the international interest for certain issues of the Croatian interior policy, such as some delegations' visits to the HQ of the International Conference on the Former Yugoslavia in Geneva and the illegitimate requests of some Istrian representatives in Geneva, as well as the behavior of certain Parliamentary representatives and party heads that are contrary to the Constitution and the legislation of the Republic of Croatia. The Parliament should discuss such events and the Govt. should establish the facts in such events and subsequently act according to the law. In continuation, Premier Valentic reported on the implementation of the stabilization program, which was resolutely supported by the Council. The Council also discussed the issue of the flats for the military, and proposed that the Govt. and the Parliament pass legislative acts that would facilitate buying out of those military flats which are undisputably open for purchase. In the cases where the ejection are legal, firm adherence to all regulations of the state of law and human rights is required, the Council concluded. (End) 171837 MET nov 93
