SERBS KEEP MAKING IT HARD FOR UNPROFOR

ZAGREB, Dec 8 (Hina) - Bosnian Serbs are still holding 316 peace- keepers prisoner, UN spokesman in Zagreb, Paul Risley, said today. They did, however, release a sick Jordanian military observer from a Banja Luka prison, he said. The Jordanian was now recovering at the Zagreb airport MASH hospital, according to another UN spokesman, Michaela Williams. Risley was very concerned about numerous attacks on UN peace- keepers in Bosnia. Five such incidents were reported in the Gorazde and Mostar areas yesterday - but fortunately, the attacked soldiers sustained only slight wounds. The situation in Sarajevo was still very tense, Risley said. Sarajevo airport was still closed and Bosnian Serb missile sites covered about 40 percent of the Bosnian sky, which directly obstructed the NATO no fly operation. Fighting let up in the Bihac area yesterday afternoon and this morning, probably because of poor weather, the UN said. The situation in Bihac hospital was still critical - and fighting continued around Velika Kladusa, which caused grave concern at UNPROFOR headquarters over the safety of the Bangladeshi battalion. "Knin Serb troops have set up camp just 200 yards from the Bangladeshi logistic base and Bosnian army 5th Corps positions are only several hundred yards from the base on the other side. On Wednesday, an anti-aircraft shell even struck the roof of a UN facility, but luckily there were no casualties," Risley said. No major clashes were reported between Bosnian Croat and Serb forces on the Livno front (southern Bosnia) on Wednedsay, again probably because of bad weather, Risley said. He said UNPROFOR had information that Croatian army forces were involved in fighting on that front. (hina) jn sd as 081613 MET dec 94
