WASHINGTON, Nov 16 (Hina) - Croatian Army Chief of Staff General
Janko Bobetko yesterday warned a Washington meeting that the Bihac
example would show how serious the international community was in
stopping Serb aggression.
"I told the Pentagon and State Department Croatia's views on
the Bihac situation, warning that Bihac was a test case which would
reveal whether the international community would take serious steps
to stop Serb aggression," Bobetko said at the end of his Washington
visit.
He warned Americans that the fall of Bihac would aggravate the
security situation in Croatia and that fresh Serb advances in the
Cazin region would have detrimental effects on further peace talks
with Croatian Serb authorities in Knin.
"US officials confirmed their concern over the Bihac situation
but emphasized the need for Croatia to exercise maximum restraint,"
Bobetko said.
