A BRIEF LOOK AT CROATIAN PRESS ON TUESDAY

ZAGREB, Nov 15 (Hina) - "Dr. Tudjman has asked UNPROFOR for active intervention," is the front-page headline in today's VJESNIK. The daily devotes the entire front-page to the meeting in Zagreb between President Dr. Franjo Tudjman, UN envoy Yasushi Akashi and UNPROFOR chief commander General Bertrand De Lapresle. "If the fall of Bihac is inevitable, it will be difficult, if not impossible, for the Croatian Government to comply with the Zagreb cease-fire agreement. It will be forced to fulfill its obligations to neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina under the Washington Accords," Darko Bekic, Croatia's Ambassador to the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) yesterday told a CSCE permanent committee session. In the first part of a series on the increasing number of newspapers in Croatia VJESNIK journalist Goran Novacic says that out of 780 publications in Croatia 250 alone were established from January 1 to October 15 this year. Today's VECERNJI LIST carries an article on how to increase production in Croatia. Growth is to be stimulated next year by a billion dollars granted for road construction, the electric power industry reconstruction and infrastructure development. Nenad Ivankovic is the author of a comment piece on Russia's involvement in the crisis in former Yugoslavia headlined "Burlakov or Russia?" The daily carries an interview with Zagreb Mayor Branko Miksa for the occasion of City Day and the 900-year anniversary of the Zagreb Diocese. (hina) mar sd mms 151202 MET nov 94
