A BRIEF LOOK AT CROATIAN PRESS ON FRIDAY

ZAGREB, Nov 4 (Hina) - Today's VJESNIK leads with a front page report on fighting in the Kupres area, south-west Bosnia, headlined "Kupres Liberated". After 30 months of the Serb occupation the Croatian Defence Council (HVO) yesterday took over the control of the entire Kupres municipality. The paper carries on the front page an article on a celebration held on the occasion of the 325th anniversary of the Zagreb University and the University Day. Croatian President Tudjman, who sponsored the celebration, also attended the celebration. Vjesnik brings a report from a Zagreb panel on legal, moral and social aspects of evictions under the headline "'Decree is valid! Decree is not valid!'". Representatives of the Croatian Helsinki Committee on Human Rights (HHO) and other organizations for human rights deny the validity of implementing the decree on evictions which was adopted by the Croatian Government in 1991. On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the Croatian Army Tigers brigade, General Janko Bobetko unveiled a monument to killed members of the brigade. Vjesnik brings an article on the Croatian Ambassador to the United Nations, Mario Nobilo's speech delivered at a session of the UN General Assembly focused on the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Today's VECERNJI LIST leads with a front page article on talks in Knin between Croatian government officials and rebel Serb leaders. US Ambassador to Croatia, Peter Galbraith, said that talks concentrated on economic issues. The paper also brings an article on the anniversary of the Zagreb University. Vecernji List stresses "HVO enters Kupres!" after four days of fierce fighting in the area. The paper carries a report from the Government's session headlined "1995 - the year of economic growth".
