SARINIC ON TODAY'S TALKS WITH CROATIA'S REBEL SERBS

ZAGREB, Nov 15 (Hina) - Hrvoje Sarinic, the head of Croatian President Dr. Franjo Tudjman's office and the head of Govt. delegation for negotiations with Croatia's rebel Serbs, last night said that if an agreement was not signed until November 21 , a deadline set by the Croatian Govt. delegation, it would not be willing to continue talks. He said this ahead of today's negotiations with the rebel Serbs' delegation at Zagreb Airport. "In 1992 an agreement was made by Croatian President Dr. Franjo Tudjman and the former President of Yugoslavia (Serbia/Montenegro), Dobrica Cosic, but the agreement was not respected. At the beginning of this year we signed a cease-fire agreement and seven days later we had to resume talks on the normalization of relations, specifically in economic questions, but no progress was made in this issue. We do not want to participate in this "ploy" any more, and therefore we have set the deadline. If the agreement has not been signed by the deadline, the talks cannot be continued on this level," Sarinic said. Commenting on latest attacks of rebel Serbs from occupied areas of Croatia on the Bihac area, west Bosnia, he said he would raise this problem at the very beginning of the talks. I would stress that the aggression was being carried out from Croatian territory on another sovereign state, he said and added that this was absolutely unacceptable for Croatia, but this should be unacceptable also for UN Protection Force (UNPROFOR). In this matter we would assume a stern position, because UNPROFOR, at last, had several offers and possibilities to undertake more energetic measures, Sarinic said. (hina) mar mms 151053 MET nov 94
