POTRAVLJE, Nov 1 (Hina) - More than a hundred displaced villagers
from Maljkovo, in the Zone of Separation near UNPA Sector South,
today came in their home village after three years of exile. They
were expelled by Serb aggressors on 17 September 1991.
Today on the All Saints' Day the Croat villagers, escorted by
UN Kenyan peace keepers, could visit only the cemetery to lay
wreaths and light candles on their loved ones' graves. They were
not allowed to visit other parts of Maljkovo because of the
vicinity of Serb rebels' positions.
After arriving at a UN Protection Force check-point at
Potravlje the displaced villagers told journalists, who were not
let to go to Maljkovo, that the village was completely burnt down
and ruined. The parish church of St., Joseph was also demolished.
