GRANIC SAYS
ZAGREB, Nov 8 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Dr. Mate Granic on
Monday described the latest offensive of the Bosnian Army and the
Croatian Defence Council (HVO) as an action undertaken in the
spirit of the Washington Accords and as a response to Bosnian
Serbs' persistent rejection of a peace plan devised by the five-
power Contact Group for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Commenting on negotiations with rebel Serbs from the UN
Protected Areas (UNPAs) of Croatia and a recent statement of one of
their leaders, Milan Babic, that they would try to unite with
Bosnian Serbs, Granic said the negotiations would not last longer
if Serb representatives continued giving such statements.
He said the Croatian Government was bound by the Parliament
decisions on extension of UN Protection Force (UNPROFOR) mandate
and it would dedicate a session on this issue, which would be held
probably on 4 or 5 January next year.
