ZAGREB, Sept 13 (Hina) - "Croatia a Good Place for Business,"
proclaims a front-page headline in today's issue of VECERNJI LIST,
on the Zagreb International Autumn Fair. The article quotes
President Tudjman's opening speech, which says: "Despite many
difficulties, we achieved great success in implementing the
stabilisation scheme, cutting down inflation and introducing our
own currency - the kuna."
The paper carries a comment piece by Milan Ivkosic on the Holy
Father's visit. "We are at a loss for words to desribe the
magnificent welcome given to the Holy Father ... people were
overwhelmed with emotion... the perfection of the event is the
fruit of the Croatian faith and the Croatian soul," Ivkosic
enthused.
The paper also covers the teachers' strike.
VECERNJI LIST also carries a special four-page insert
detailing the Government's Memorandum on Economic Policy.
Today's issue of VJESNIK also covers the Zagreb International
Autumn Fair. "The business world is interested in cooperating with
Croatian companies," the article says.
The paper carries a comment piece by Vatroslav Halambek,
headlined "The Croatian People Deserved a Pope Like That."
"Despite the destruction and difficulties, the Croats were at
their best, simple and dignified," the article said.
According to VJESNIK's reporter in Moscow, the Russian
foreign ministry confirmed that sanctions against Serbia would not
be fully lifted until Belgrade recognised Croatia and Bosnia-
Herzegovina.
