ZAGREB, Sep 6 (Hina) - Today's daily VJESNIK carries on the front
page a report on yesterday's beginning of a general strike of
teachers in Croatia. Trade unions of teachers said that 80 percent
of teachers participated in the strike and that the Croatian
Government would not negotiate with the trade unions, writes the
paper.
Vjesnik brings Cardinal Kuharic's interview with Reuters. The
Cardinal stresses that Holy Father, during his visit to Croatia,
"will not condemn anyone, but will stress what is good and boost
hope and patience to endure difficulties." The paper also writes
that the Croatian TV and Radio will cover the Pope's visit to
Croatia minute after minute.
Vjesnik says that the Croatian 'foreign exchange miracle' has
still been going on. In the last ten months, currency reserves
increased twofold and they could amount to US $ 1.5 billion until
the end of this year.
Another Zagreb daily VECERNJI LIST carries an article on a
tourist season in Croatia. Package holidays for first weeks in
September have been sold well. Prices are lower even by 30 percent,
says the paper.
"Man with 1,000 information," says the headline of an article
which is announcing today's beginning of legal proceedings against
Radenko Radojcic, a member of the intelligence and terrorist group
Labrador. Radojcic was arrested in the Zagreb area in May 1993,
when police found a number of explosive means at his place.
He is accused of spying and preparing of terrorist activities.
