SARAJEVO AIRLIFT STILL CANCELLED

SARAJEVO, Aug 15 (Hina) - The Sarajevo airlift is cancelled today as well, and a spokesman for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Peter Kessler, announced a session of representatives of countries participating in this air relief aid operation. If they win agreement today, the airlift to the Bosnian capital might resume tomorrow. Two convoys loaded with about 200 tonnes of food entered Sarajevo on Saturday and Sunday, Kessler told journalists. Two convoys bound for the Moslem enclaves of Gorazde and Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia managed to reach their destinations, but Serbs again grabbed part of shipments. Another Gorazde-bound convoy was stopped yesterday by Serbs at Visegrad requiring to get shipments from two out of nine trucks. UNHCR representatives did not consent to do it and had to return the convoy to Belgrade. UNHCR reached an agreement with the Belgrade government on free passage of relief convoys trough six border crossings between Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina Air relief aid by parachutes was dropped to civilians of Bihac (western Bosnia) on Saturday overnight. The operation was done by two U.S. and two French transporting aircraft. Road traffic toward Bihac is still impeded by the forces loyal to Fikret Abdic who do not let vehicles pass the area of Velika Kladusa toward territory under control of the government-led Bosnian army.
